Motorists driving down to the Province of Cavite may have to check their license plate and the day they’ll be on any of the major roads in the area because of number-coding.
The provincial government of Cavite will begin implementing a number-coding scheme similar to the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVRRP) employed by the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) in Metro Manila starting December 22, 2016.
This is based on the ordinance passed by the provincial legislative council and approved by Governor Jesus "Boying" Remulla.
The Cavite number-coding will be implemented between 6AM to 9AM and 3PM to 7PM and is broken down as follows:
Monday - 1 and 2
Tuesday - 3 and 4
Wednesday - 5 and 6
Thursday - 7 and 8
Friday - 9 and 0
To curb traffic congestion in major roads along Cavite, the ordinance was put in place to 'regulate the operation of private vehicles within the territorial jurisdiction of the province.' Violators will be fined Php 300.
The following major thoroughfares will begin restricting cars, motorcycles, trucks and other private vehicles based on the Cavite number-coding scheme:
* Aguinaldo Highway - Bacoor City to Damarinas-Silang Boundary
* Governors Drive - Carmona to Trece Martires City-Tanza Boundary
* Molino-Salawag-Paliparan Road - from Zapote, Bacoor to Paliparan, Dasmarinas
* Molino Boulevard
* Daang Hari Road - covering stretch of Aguinaldo Highway, Imus to Molino, Bacoor
